Random Acts of Kindness Week: Showing Link Love

Monday, February 15th, 2010

“That best portion of a man’s (woman’s) good life—his little, nameless, unremembered acts of kindness and of love” –William Wordsworth

February 15-21st, 2010 is “Random Acts of Kindness week”, and I know that if we were to randomly show a daily act of kindness, we would not only be finding our own lives more enriched, we would also bring a smile to someone’s face and perhaps a thankfulness that would somehow be returned to someone else in need, creating a domino effect. I found that by me sending birthday cards and other notes to people, letting them know they are being thought of and are special to me, made a huge difference in someone’s life.

One of my favorite “kindness” quotes is this: “The greatest pleasure I know is to do a good action by stealth, and to have it found out by accident” (Charles Lamb). I have often found that karma plays a great role in my life to my humble advantage when I give small gestures of love to someone.

One way of showing a random act of kindness is to show “link love”. It doesn’t cost a dime, it can be done from the internet, and you can do it in “stealth” mode (meaning, you don’t have to tell anyone you did it). You can find someone whose message you want to spread, or perhaps maybe a product that you like and want to share with your friends, anything. Whatever it may be, you can show this “link love” by re-tweeting it through your twitter account, your own personal blog, facebook account, digg account, etc. Just copy and paste their link into where you choose to share it, and voila! Some day, often when you are not expecting it, you will receive a pleasant surprise in some way, shape, or form. Something that you need or want in your life. An answered prayer, perhaps, or that much needed resource for your business or personal life. It could be anything. Receive it thankfully and continue giving.

For me, it wasn’t until I got older and continued to send cards…… I started receiving phone calls or surprise visits from people whom I hadn’t seen in months or years. Two of these friends told me they were feeling depressed and my card made their day cheerful.  And even though you may not hear anything right away, just know you ARE making a difference. I challenge you to do just one small act of kindness today, and then every day…..

My first “link love” will be for my friend, Dennis, who  asked me to be on his radio show on January 29th, 2010. He asked me to talk about my little creations that I paint. Thank you Dennis, and to the guys at the radio station KSGVRadio.com who gave me a great time and who gave me information to copyright my work in the future. If I hadn’t of gone to this interview I wouldn’t of received this information so easily like I needed. Dennis has his radio show, “Free For All Fridays” every Friday night from 10:30pm-11:30pm on KSGVRadio.com.

If you haven’t heard my radio interview with Dennis on January 29th, 2010, along with my other friends, you can listen to it here. After the picture there is a play button.

Welcome to my ART-ground!

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

A special shout out and thanks to those of you who listened to my interview with Dennis Graham on KSGVRadio.com on January 29th, 2010! Thanks Dennis!!

This is my first blog ever, and I’m so excited to bring to you lots of creativity and fun on my ART-ground! If you haven’t already done so, take a look at my 2009 Ornament Catalog displaying customer favorites including my own favorites of my artwork that was done last year! It was an amazing year in which I expanded my horizons by painting glass HALLOWEEN ornaments! The response was overwhelming and I had so much fun creating these small masterpieces!! The good thing is, I don’t have to wait till next Halloween to paint them again. I can paint them all year round!

Christmas has always been my favorite holiday of the year. Every year for the past (gosh, I don’t know how long–since I was a kid!), I have painted ornaments to fit my Christmas tree and to give as gifts. I especially find great pleasure in coming up with new and fresh ideas. This last year I decided to paint Nightmare Before Christmas-Jack Skellington and Sally. All of my work is done freehand and no one piece is alike. The paints I use are specifically made for that surface. All my glass ornaments are painted with a highly pigmented paint that is lead free!

Easter and Spring ornaments are next in line! I found some cute Candle holders and trinket boxes to paint and will post them as I do them!

Cool projects are on the back burner. I have some special ideas that I’m still thinking about–perhaps some special artists can share their work or tips, tricks, techniques, in starting your own projects…..including some fun in papercrafting or scrapbooking.

Once a week I’d like to bring to you a special health tip and a magical quote to help keep us in balance in staying healthy and keeping that mind clear of clutter so we can have more room to be creative!! Maybe some organizational tips in life or fitness how to’s can be part of our fun…anything to keep those creative juices flowing so we can have fun and play on our ART-ground!!

Thanks for visiting and feel free to leave me a comment!!
